Danish Days Highlights

Thanks to everyone that came out to our booth this weekend at Danish Days! We braved the heat and managed to fit in some great meals, wine tasting and time with friends. Here is a recap and some recommendations for our favorite stops in Solvang.

We kept the booth setup pretty simple this year and it worked out great. The vintage cabinets and tables I picked up at an antique store last year made for the perfect display that was easy to setup and tear down.

Our Woodland Gnome soy candle was the crowd favorite and sold out after the second day.

One of our favorite places to stay in Solvang is the Hamlet Inn . The rates are affordable, rooms are clean and brightly decorated, they have free bikes you can rent and they are right in the heart of the downtown shops and restaurants. Room 1 has two beds, a couch and a mini fridge, perfect for sharing with friends.

In Solvang you can find a mix of both traditional Danish restaurant choices and hip modern locally sourced cuisine. Here is a list of all the other places we recommend that we were too busy enjoying to take photos of:

BREAKFAST
Paula's Pancake House
Go for a nice sit down breakfast and a cup of coffee and try their famous Danish Pancakes. We recommend a table on the patio if the weather is nice.

LUNCH
Bacon & Brine
Hip little locally sourced artisan sandwich, beer & wine cafe. The inside is small but the cute outdoor patio is nestled against one of the town's windmills.

HAPPY HOUR
Mad & Vin at The Landsby
Stop by this beautiful hotel with modern Danish decor and enjoy happy hour in the lobby bar Sunday-Friday from 4-6:30p.m. Also a great spot for dinner and a great place to stay if you are looking for a more modern, upscale boutique hotel feel.

DINNER
Succulent Cafe
Nice dinner spot with unique menu items and a quaint but modern atmosphere. Dine inside or out. Enjoy the complimentary biscuits and jam with your meal under string lights and outdoor heaters.

WINE TASTING
Sevtap Winery
Located in the bottom of the windmill next to Bacon & Brine. The owner/winemaker Art pours the wine himself. Do a tasting then grab a glass of your favorite wine to enjoy it on the side lounge or front patio.

POST DINNER DRINK WITH FRIENDS
Randy's Taproom
A locals hangout with occasional live music and eclectic hometown decor. Perfect for a casual drink with friends. You can even leave with a new treasure as a lot of the eclectic and antique decor is for sale.
