Norway Part 1: Touring Bergen

Last Summer I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to go on a trip with my mom to Norway for a family reunion. It's hard to describe how beautiful Norway is without seeing it first hand. Everywhere we looked it felt like we were staring at a postcard and couldn't put our cameras down. We stayed in and toured Bergen and visited our family homestead in Jølster. Here are pictures highlighting our stay in Bergen.

I created this print based off of Bryggen, a popular tourist destination made up of commercial buildings lining the harbor in Bergen, Norway.

A typical day at Bryggen with tourists enjoying the outdoor cafes and shopping.

Stopping for a glass of wine after an afternoon at Bryggen.

We stayed several nights at the Grand Terminus Hotel. It was a great location walking distance to shops and restaurants, Bryggen, and across from the transit station.

We had a large group of 25 family members so we rented out their separate building called the Villahagen. (Exterior was under construction at the time but is now complete). It is a historic building remodeled with a modern Scandinavian interior, lounge areas and a personal chef that prepared us breakfast each morning.

The different rooms were labeled with these really cute infographic signs. This one directs you to the "Kitchen."

No trip is complete without fitting in some Antique shopping.

There were a lot of beautiful traditional Norwegian items like this hand painted Rosemaling Hutch.

We took the Fløibanen funicular up to see the views on top of Mt Fløyen. It can be really crowded and full of tourists but the view is pretty spectacular.

As we walked the streets of Bergen there was a lot of unique street art and signage. This one was one of my favorites.
